About
WE PLAY
in Europeas well as the political potential of collective work in the cultural field
and its current contested status in the
midst of these entrepreneurial times,
marked by immaterial labor and cognitive
capitalism. These conversations and
encounters culminated in a set of public
readings and performances, realized by
some members of the group during the
winter of 2011 in Berlin. After bonding
over these exchanges and exercises,
some members of the Acycle decided to
get together and crystallize these questions on an artistic-open-ended project
to be realized as part of the grassroots
democratic institution nGbK. This is how
the working group WIR SPIELEN (WE
PLAY) started to happen. But, why a theater play?
During the period in which the main questions for this project were taking shape
what is we? what would we do? what
are our possibilities for change and how
are they shaped by our desires and personal interactions? which are the demands
nowadays, who are the ones that will
express them, who are the ones that will
be heard the most and why? Is collective
work still a political standpoint? a marketing strategy? a failed project or a necessity
for our survival?an unusual object got in
contact with us.
The theatrical inspiration for the methodology employed in this book,i.e. the
citation system, thorough structuralization
of the material that forms the dialogues,
and the typological impulse that pushed
us toward the composition of an atypical
theater playis a result of our encounter
with Mary Ellen Solts poem THE PEOPLEMOVER 1968 A Demonstration Poem.

geschtzte Untersttzung ausgedrckt.

Act 1:
texts from collective writing exercises
in the workshop conducted by Amelia
Bande
TEXT
(WE PLAY), einer Veranstaltungsreihe
innen/Gsten
TEXT
The text is compiled through quotes
that derive from the series of events,
the 5 acts of WIR SPIELEN (WE PLAY),
including invitation texts, flyers, and instructions. Whenever possible they have been recorded verbatim. But the
linear arrangement needed to provide
a rhythmic movement of accents and
pauses (necessary to the heightened
speech of poetry) made it sometimes
necessary to re-arrange syntax and
omit words.
Act 2:
script written by Interflugs and
transcription of the audio recordings
from the event, including the contributions by the audience/participants to
the discussion
ACTS
The number to the right of the text
shows in which act 1-5 the text fragment was originated.
Act 4:
minutes written by working group
members and a collective writing
exercise
AKTE
Die Ziffer rechts neben dem Text zeigt,
zu welchem der Akte 1-5 das Textfragment gehrt.
QUELLEN

Akt 3:
Rubia Salgados schriftlicher Beitrag
Protokoll Clara (PC), Protokoll Johanna
(PJ)
Akt 5:
Magazin Randy
SOURCES
The source of the text fragment, when
traceable, is to be read in the column
to the very right. There is no intention
to follow a strict system of scientific citation. Sentences, words have been
ripped out of their original contexts,
used and at times misused. So this referential map can be regarded as an
account of the movements of worded
realities as materials in the world.
Act 3:
Rubia Salgados written input and
transcriptions of the audio recordings
from the event, including the contributions of the audience/participants to
the discussion

waren sehr sehr vehement dagegen.

entstehen andere Zusammenhnge.

there were always contradictions and rifts,

(jemand)
Chance gibt neue revolutionre Potentiale
mglichst viele Mittel mglichst vielen
(somebody)
we are pleased to inform you about our
decision and invite you to discuss future
plans with us we are pleased that 24
years later the university allows this
autonomous space to prosper and grow
and gives us the opportunity to advance
new revolutionary possibilities we are
pleased so many of us are here for this
solemn occasion and we want to have
a vote do we accept the money or not we
very much hope that no situation arises
where interests collide how dependent
are we really we are not able to frame
it the right way today we see there is a
little problem we dont have the necessary
space for thinking we give all the money
to the refugee strike then we hire people
to solve the problem that we dont know
what were doing that the idea we came
up with had to undergo a reality check
and reality looks pretty grim we are actually hamstrung maybe we can take a little
break now who are we, we are also not
elected for these issues we give the money and not because any foundation from
Uschi Glas or whomever gives money
for artists to realize their creative projects
and now we give 40,000 Euros to Amnesty
International lets look at the archive we
have become service providers, we have
the money available, we have not won
this like back in the protests of 1989
where they said we have to change the
education yes we somehow hoped that
the provocation that we planned would
create something and would not only lead
to frustration creating a situation that is
semi-fictional, and we keep getting into
trouble because of this how can we provide as many people as possible with as
many means as possible to practice art
how do we work at the university there
are specific problems and we have a few
specific tools to solve them namely that
2
the structures we work in bring about the
opposite of solidarity there simply are
matters we can solve in a self-organized
fashion

Gender_Gap: Die nGbK whlt mit der
Schreibweise des Gender_Gaps in
ihren Verffentlichungen bewusst eine
sprachliche Darstellung aller sozialen
Geschlechter und Geschlechteridentitten
ber die hegemoniale Zweigeschlechtlichkeit hinaus.
It is nGbKs policy to use the Gender_Gap
in all publications in order to underline an
explicit linguistic representation of social
genders and gender identities beyond the
hegemonic binary conception of gender.
Die nGbK dankt dem Regierenden Brgermeister von Berlin, Senatskanzlei
