Colleagues

For sharing and discussion among this group only pls. Over the next few weeks, Godfrey, Todd, and I
will decide what portions of Saverys group remains within IT and the portions that will migrate to
CAST. In the meantime, I reviewed 200701 (Saverys group). Pls remove from the staffing table:

Jeri Farwell, Learning Tech Support Specialist.

Steven Brusso, Electronic Technician. Godfrey/Todd as best I can tell, this is but one of a couple
positions. Let Amy know if you prefer to exchange this position for another.
Betty Blevins, CBA & Eval Testing Asst. Godfrey/Todd as best I can tell, this is but one of a couple
positions. Let Amy know if you prefer to exchange this position for another.
Jibak Barua, Sr Application Systems Analyst. Godfrey/Todd as best I can tell, this is but one of a
couple positions. Let Amy know if you prefer to exchange this position for another.
Chris Cochrans position was in an email that I sent yesterday. In yesterdays email, I removed that
position from the staffing table. Part of Chriss position must have been funded here.

Todd/Godfrey, I didnt intend to touch any design and development staffing respond if you believe
I have. Should you believe there are further existing opportunities pls advise. Ultimately, I think the
LMS should be hosted which may provide opportunity savings and ultimately John Savey may be a
good additional to the College of Education his tenured college

My understanding is that for a CP the notice requirements are longer (6 months with his years of service)
so letting him retire is preferable.

Holtman; Asst to Dir, Eng; Institute Poly Eng. Mark hasindicated he will retire at the end of June. (He

Positions for Elimination Reflected in Enrollment Management Budget
Thursday, May 21, 2015 6:16:00 PM
List.xlsx
2nd Version of cuts 052115.pdf

Hello, Nathan and Amy . . .

Per my conversation with Nathan and Larry, there have been a couple of versions of names provided regarding
elimination as part of the cuts for Enrollment Management. The 1 st attachment was based on the original list Nathan
showed to me from his notebook a couple of weeks ago. I then created this 1 st attachment for Larry when he asked
about names for elimination. Today, a different list was provided to Larry. (2nd attachment)

As Nathan requested, I am sending the following list of names which is a blend of some names from both lists. As I
originally mentioned to Nathan when he first showed me the names from admissions and shared with Larry a couple of
weeks ago, some of these colleagues were all part of our Enrollment Management Team until we transferred them over
to the Registrar's Office (Division of Student Success) in March to become part of our new Processing Center. However,
keep in mind that our budget hearing was in February and all of our financials reflected these individuals in our
Enrollment Management budget.

The following recommended cuts total $378,782 in total salary/fringes. ALL of these individuals
were represented in our Enrollment Management financials presented at our February budget
hearing.

*Since four individuals are recently a part of the new processing center in the Registrars Office, you may want to
review/discuss with Registrar Ron Bowman. Again, all of these salaries were reflected in the Enrollment Management
financials at our February budget hearing.

RE: FY16 Budget Plans
Friday, May 29, 2015 4:33:15 PM

Dear Amy,

I was in Columbus yesterday and on my way back I received the message to provide any suggested
alternatives to the proposed BCAS cuts of approximately $198K in position dollars (proposed for
elimination were the positions of Cyndee Snider and Michelle Collins) by today.

We would like to retain Cyndee Snider because she:

Works with various donors and patrons of the arts, and plays a key role in our outreach in
these areas;
Plays a key role in interacting with Dance Cleveland and will play a key role in promoting the
new Center for Choreography, and she will be a valuable asset in terms of taking advantage
of this opportunity with local donors.

In order to retain Cyndee we propose the following alternative for your consideration:
Eliminate:
o Michelle Collins ($118,734 with fringe)---as in the proposed reductions
o Sandra Longenecker, Assistant to the Director in Music ($67,674 with fringe)
Reduce the hours of James Hofer (Chemical Storekeeper in Biology) to result in a reduction
in compensation equivalent to the remainder ($11,619)
The details/ramifications of this option are not fully known due to the need to discuss it with the
unit leadership at an appropriate time.

Thanks, Chand

Colleagues
Thank you again for meeting with me concerning your FY16 budget. I know many of you have
submitted alternative plans, but if you have not yet done so, please provide those to Amy Gilliland

Thanks Nathan, Ill look for those departments data. CAST and Wayne provide a base change of
around $500k reduction beyond what was requested (per my previous emails). Supplemental
requests were defined but can remain on hold until the first phase is completed but I wanted you to
have those as well. There was no location for Supplemental for divisions that do not exist unless we
put them in OAA.

Amy, Amber or Denny can call me to walk through questions so you can pin this down. Ancillary
discussions not needed for Monday can wait until you are ready. Let me know.

Cell 330-730-2695. I am available anytime.

I understand and appreciate what youre doing. For purposes of what were trying to do and its
aggressive timeline; Amy and I need to distinguish fy 16 bgt development from supplemental
requests (e.g., investments). Meaning, we need for you to achieve the reduction and then we can
talk supplemental requests.

As an aside, by substituting Savery at this point, were merely reallocating an expense, not reducing
overall expenses since he is a tenured faculty member and wont be exited. Having said this, as
everyone is aware, I am in favor or returning John to the College of Education where he can be
deployed there. Unless Rex advises that John may be exited, Ill coordinate with Rex and Mike to see
that transfer to Education happens and will communicate with John when the timing is good likely
within the next couple weeks.

In the meantime, really just need the number and details how it will be achieved. Amy pls make
sure that Todd has all of the areas so he can review to achieve the number provided.

I am looking for Military Services personnel for cuts/saves.

Well need to remove Laura Conley from elimination in Adult Focus. I need her to build our efforts
and will be accountable for managing her. I will absorb her in my combined overages. I need to look
at Military before I can make a determination about cuts there.

I also will add John Savery in Instructional Services back to the cuts list. What is his comp for my
records? He will return to faculty so will only be a partial savings. The others were discussed with
Nathan a couple weeks ago.

ITL is wiped out per Mike/Rex/Bill meeting.

What cuts are planned for UA Solutions? I need to review that also before committing to any
decisions. That is necessary for growth as well.

Also, Wayne College Interim Dean Dan Deckler will return to faculty. What is that gain on partial
comp? We will need to budget for a new Dean who also oversees satellite campuses at $225,000.

Nathan, we will also need to consider an Online Director who will replace John Savery and Becky
Hoover as well as overseeing PLA, UA Solutions, and some ancillary technology items. Need to
budget that at $225,000 as well.

The effort here in the past emails is to drive my investments without using any of the set aside (at
least at this point). These are critical positions to execute the plan and I have found hard monies to
cover them without immediate need to dip into the investment poolwhich will do soon as well but
after proving need. These others I pay for internally.

I hope you are feeling better today.

I need to bring you into the FY16 budget conversation as it relates to Wayne College. Todd Rickel is
reviewing the budget and making recommendations as to positions to eliminate. I cant advise if
these are appropriate until I know they are in the Wayne base budget.

Please work with Amber to identify if they are in the base budget I will try to summarize, but Im
sure she can explain better:
1. Are these people on the staffing table that was used to build the budget?
2. Are they included in the ALL_FOR_PIVOT file (ALL TAB) if they are not in the ALLFOR_PIVOT file, that means they arent in the base budget and cant be cut.

It is very important to check these ASAP and also, please keep CONFIDENTIAL.

FW: Budget Changes- Wayne College
Tuesday, June 02, 2015 12:11:00 PM
WayneCollegeUpdates6-2-15.xlsx

Todd, Please take a look at the attached. It appears that only $87k is in the FY16 budget for the PT
tutors. So, eliminating all of them would only save that amount. They are all pool positions and the
salary amounts on the staffing table are inflated because I believe they are based on a certain
number of hrs/week but the actual time worked is much less.

Also, there are two retirements that were identified on the list. Since the salaries are included in
the base budget, you could cut those positions up front if you choose to.

Also, there are two retirements that were identified on the list. Since the salaries are included in
the base budget, you could cut those positions up front if you choose to.

Amy,

On Engineerings cut list, I propose we put the Assoc. Dean for Research position. the incumbent
would return to the faculty, savings $33,300 in FY16. Also the position of Lone East, Admin. Asst.
that supported the Assoc. Dean, can be abolished, savings $25,500.

Yes. Those were on the list we were given with some adjustments. Double click on
the totals at the bottom - that shows the roll-up of proposed reductions under
different scenarios/perspectives. The separation of some needs to be considered
from the perspective of either the optics or enrollment (Margaret-Lauri's
responsibilities).

From a while ago.Chris Cochrans position (sr web developer) was to be eliminated from the web
group before that group transitions into your area. As weve looked into the details of eliminating
positions, we found that Chris has more retention points than Alexander Sterling so we need to
eliminate Sterlings position. Given this nuance, if you want both positions eliminated, we can try
that, but absent that, well move forward just eliminating Sterlings position.

I brought Bill, Amy, Amber, and Denny into the exchange for information as they are tracking
positions and the like and to help clarify my email if needed.

Lauri My apologies, I must have overlooked the 5/21 email. We need some more work on this list It doesnt appear that the
Admissions budget included Baker, Casey or Joseph. The only two staff positions in the budget were Lauck and Redford ($96,346).
Beauvais moved to the Registrars office in March (per your 6/1 email). Romano and Sheppard Stafford are the only valid positions
identified on the May 21 email.

These are position cuts proposed outside of Wendys team and I dont have much input. I do not know how important either
position is for UAs future currently filled by Blevins or Kodish.

Todd,

One of the positions initially identified for possible reduction was Betty Blevins position as a CBA & Eval Testing
Assistant in Instructional Services. As weve looked into the details of eliminating positions, it appears that Blevins
has more retention points than Cathy Kodish who has the same classification in Instructional Services. This is a
Classified Civil Service position subject to state regulation, so we will have to follow the required protocol for
reductions. We have the option of eliminating both positions, but if we eliminate one position, it will have to be
the person with the fewest retention points, which in this case is Kodish. Please let me know how you would like
to proceed.

Thanks,

Bill

I spoke with John Savery this afternoon about transitioning into the College of Education effective
fall 2015 with the exact date to be determined by Susan he should transition under the 9/11ths
concept.

Amber/Amy, pls move Johns salary line into the College so the College is fiscally held harmless.
Should John decide to remain with the University for more than 3 years; let the position and line
remain with the college; otherwise, move it back to IT once he retires.

: FY16 Budget Plans
Tuesday, June 23, 2015 2:32:14 PM
High

Mike/Nathan/Amy,
This is a follow up to my earlier email dealing with the FY16 Budget Plans reduction targets. On June
5th I had suggested a possible plan to meet these targets by:

Eliminating:
Michelle Collins - $88,740 + fringe
Donald Welch (School of Communication) - $49,221 + fringe (we have not discussed this
with the leadership of the School of Communication and we do not know its impact)

At that time we indicated that we would make up the difference between Don Welchs position and
the portion of Cyndee Sniders position covered by BCAS ($59,262 + fringe) through a reduction in
the College Operating funds. Of course, this would require Cyndees position to change from
fulltime to part-time (the college cannot afford to pick up the other 30% of her salary currently
covered by EJ).

This previous suggestion was based on the assumption that we would get approval to complete the
hiring of our budget person (JO 8279) within two weeks (this was conveyed to us on May 26 th during
our budget hearing). Since we have not gotten that approval as of yet, and further our budget
related help (Dr. Stratton leaving) and BSMD help (Ashley Terrago leaving) are both ending this
week, we need to consider retaining Michelle Collins until we are given approval to hire the
budget person, the replacement for Ashley Terrago, and our requested pre-med/pre-health
advisor (all activities that Michelle is currently contributing to). If it is not the case that these three
positions will all be approved, then I request that Michelle Collins position no longer be considered
as part of the planned reductions. Thanks for considering this request. Chand

P.S. It is essential that we have the necessary support to handle the BS/MD admissions process
which starts in August. It is more crucial this year since NEOMED is changing the admissions
pathways. Michelle has all of the knowledge and experience to deal with this changing process.
Moreover, she was the registrar at NEOMED before joining UA.

Amy, I have explored several options and after discussing it with several colleagues in the Deans

alternative for your consideration:

Eliminate:
Michelle Collins - $88,740 + fringe
Donald Welch (School of Communication) - $49,221 + fringe (we have not discussed this

It is possible that Cyndee may not accept this plan, but this is a possible option to explore with her
per my recent conversation with Bill Viau. Also, please let us know when we can initiate the
conversation with the affected individuals. We would like to present the option of a part-time
position to Cyndee before approaching Don Welch. Thanks for your understanding and support.

Works with various donors and patrons of the arts, and plays a key role in our outreach in
these areas;

Per Chands discussion this afternoon with Bill, we are going to accept the originally proposed
reduction list provided to us on May 26 th (see attached copy). We ask that you ignore all other

Bill/Amy,

There was an error in the positions to be eliminated at MCUC. The current list has the Associate
Director position eliminated currently held by Jeanette Berger. It will be difficult to justify that
position being eliminated based on the duties assigned. The counter option made in late May was
the elimination of the PT positions held by the two Police Officers. One individual has already
removed himself from work prior to the end of June. The remaining individual is Greg Mason who
only works time. Our suggestion is to stick with the original plan of eliminating the officers. Please
call for additional clarification.

Hello, Amy . . .

Can you please confirm that if we do not cut Jennifer Redford (staff, undergraduate admissions) that we will not achieve our required budget cut? (Salary = $36,899 + fringes at 45.6% = $53,725)
I want to be doubly sure that is the case before we let her go because we added a few folks from The Career Center to our cuts per my July 1 email. (copied below)

Right now, HR has Jennifer slated to be cut. If she must be cut to achieve our required cut, I completely understand. Just want to be sure thats the case before we release our only full-time person at the admissions
office front desk.

Hello, Colleagues . . .

As a follow-up to a call this morning from Bill to Larry as well as coincidental decision (unrelated to that call) to eliminate additional positions in The Career Center, I am submitting this updated list.
Larry has approved. The additional names are at the bottom of this list (Tindall, Eby, Grove all from The Career Center). In the end, we can manage if all 5 of these Career Center positions were
eliminated and will work to reposition individuals within the colleges to absorb some of these duties to best help us serve our students.

The new total cut now represents $549,354.

campus location). We understand that you cannot guarantee to fill one or both
vacancies by this move to cut Stephanie. But we both agreed that it would aid the
budget and potentially give us a better chance at filling one or both positions.

Diane and I have a strategy for having UA represented at the LCCC office for 10 to 20
hours per week with our existing adult/transfer recruiter. That office does not have to
be staffed 40 hours per week.

Stephanies salary is $37,315 + 45.6% fringes = $54,330.

Please advise if we may please add Stephanie Mawsons position to be eliminated.

Thank you,

Lauri

P.S. -- Bill . . . Diane Raybuck is all set to work with you or your designee to deliver the
news regarding the position elimination for Jennifer Redford. I told her that someone
from your office would be in touch with her to arrange a time. We have made
arrangements to have students cover the front desk and will be collaborating with
financial aid for back up. So, were fine to do without Jennifer Redford. Thanks.
