Stars Stands For Sustainability, Tracking,

Assessment, And Rating System.

How Does STARS Work?

The Stars Framework Is Comprised of 70 credits

Analyzes 4 Categories: Academics, Engagement,
Operations, Planning & Administration (Plus
Innovation)

Data Is Then Collected And Reported By a

Responsible Party for each credit. Each Credit Is
Then Scored.

Once Each Category Is Completed Its sent To

AASHE For Review Along With A Letter From
The Institutions President.

Based Off Your Evaluation Score You Are Then

Rated. (Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum)

STARS Scoring System

STARS rating is valid for up to 3 years, unless an

institution submits a new rating that can be done
once a year

Score is based off a percentage of points across the

four categories

Institutions may also receive up to 4 innovation credits (new

sustainability practices that are not covered under STARS)

Any participating institution that doesnt want a rating or to have their

scores be made public can participate as a STARS Reporter
