What is it?

• It is a British

Sundays. It’s
format is
broadsheet.
From the beginning
• The first publish was on 4
December 1791 by W.S. Bourne
what was the world's first Sunday
newspaper.
History
• In 1807, the brothers (Thomas Paine,
Francis Burdett, and Joseph Priestley)
decided to relinquish editorial control,
naming Lewis Doxat as the new editor.
Seven years later...
• The brothers sold The
Observer to William
Innell Clement.
• The paper continued to
receive government
subsidies during this
period; in 1819, of the
approximately 23,000
copies of the paper
distributed weekly.
Its sister is...
• THE GUARDIAN!!

• In November 2007 The Observer


and The Guardian made their
archives available over the
internet via digital archive.
The price
• Before 2006 it costed £1.90 on
Sunday Times, but then because
he became Britain’s first paper in
September 2006 so it became
expensier: £2.
