Fossil Ridge Boys Swimming & Diving Letter Policy

125 Points are required to earn a varsity letter.

You may earn points in the following ways:

1 pt. for each practice attended. Must be on time and stay for entire practice.

1 pt. for each swimming race (individual or relay) participated in at a meet.

3 pts. for each diving performance in a meet.

1 pt. for each season best swimming performance (individual) & 3 pts. for each season best diving
score.

Points scored in individual events in meets (Dual meets 1st = 6pts, 2nd = 4pts, 3rd = 3pts, 4th = 2pts, 5th =
1pt, Invitational & conference meets points vary – usually 1st = 20 pts – 16th = 1 pt)

5 pts. for each year that you have been a member of the FRHS Boys Swimming & Diving team.

10 pts for participation in off season training program (maximum of 3 absenses)

3rd Quarter GPA:

3.80 or higher = 15 pts.

3.50 – 3.79 = 10 pts.
3.0 – 3.49 = 5 pts.

You may lose points in the following ways:

0 pts. Illness or pre-excused absence. (Must have note from parent ahead of time or have called
school attendance office.)

-1 pt. Excused absence (No note ahead of time)

-1 pt. Late to practice.

- 10 pts. Unexcused absence from practice.

-5 pts. Missed meet or leaving a meet early for any reason. (Must ride the bus home with the team
from away meets.)

You will not earn a letter if you meet any of the following conditions:

• More than 3 unexcused absences

• More than 2 meets missed for any reason
• removal from team before the end of the season
