Research a Religion
Scenario
As a childcare and education worker in our multi-cultural society you will be working with
children from different ethnic backgrounds. It is important to value the culture of all
children and, therefore, it is necessary to have knowledge of a variety of religions and
cultures.
Task 1 Find and select information about one religion (not your own) using ICT and non ICT
methods. You may use books, papers, journals and the following websites:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/religion/Story/0,2763,714717,00.html .
Task 2 Write a brief account of your chosen religion (a maximum of 250 words). You may
organise your work under the sub-headings: Introduction; History; Main Beliefs and
Main Festivals. Illustrate your final copy with one or more images.
Task 3 Create a table of two columns (Festival and Month) to show the name and
month of the festivals of your chosen religion.
Task 4 ICT
Use the spreadsheet provided by your tutor to produce a pie chart to illustrate the
religious breakdown of the population of Birmingham. Make sure the chart is clearly
labelled with a suitable heading.
