WSA 2015-2016

World Student Association (WSA) CN Officer Descriptions


1. Promotions Officer
a. Shall work with the Public Relations Director with duties.
b. Assist in designing CN promotions.
c. Assist in contacting necessary people for promoting events and finding
out costs (Ex. Newspaper, University staff, radio, local businesses,
student org, etc.).
d. Design a thank you card and invitation card.
e. Design tickets.
f. Work with the Treasurer to stay within budget.
g. Assist in leading the Promotions Committee.
h. Recruit students to this committee and involve them in process.
i. Attending weekly meetings.
j. Meet assigned deadlines.
2. Art Officer
a. Shall work with the Public Relations Director with decorations.
b. In charge of background stage decoration and dining hall decorations
for Cultural Night.
c. Be able to lead the Art Committee.
d. Work with the Treasures to stay within budget.
e. Recruit students to this committee and involve them in the process.
f. Attending weekly meetings.
g. Meet assigned deadlines.
3. Fashion Show Officer
a. Shall work with the Programs Director.
b. Shall organize and direct the fashion show for Cultural night.
c. Work with Tech and Prep to coordinate music and lighting
d. Recruit students from variety of cultures to participate.
e. Attending weekly meetings.
f. Meet assigned deadlines.
4. Flag Show Officer
a. Shall work with the Programs Director.
b. Shall organize and direct the flag show for Cultural night.
c. Work with Tech and Prep to coordinate music.
d. Recruit international students to carry their country flag.
e. Attending weekly meetings.
f. Meet assigned deadlines.
5. Auditions Officer
a. Shall work with the Program Director.
b. Shall help with the planning and set up of Auditions for Cultural night.
c. Shall recruit faculty judges for auditions.
d. Shall communicate with individuals and groups about audition times,
dates and expectations.

e. Shall collect audition applications.
f. Shall make room reservations for the audition location and practice
location.
g. Shall assist in coordinating the 2 mandatory rehearsals prior to CN.
h. Shall serve as the stage manager (lining up groups) on CN.
i. Attending weekly meetings.
j. Meet assigned deadlines.
6. Dinner Officer
a. Shall help with the planning of dinner for Cultural night.
b. Shall solicit recipes from students for dishes to be served.
c. Shall meet with Chartwells catering manager to plan dinner.
d. Shall meet with YU staff to arrange tables and coat racks outside Great
Room.
e. Shall work with volunteers to collect tickets and keep record of
attendance.
f. Collaborate with Art Officers on decorations for YU Great room.
g. Arrange music and/or slide show during dinner.
h. Arrange additional entertainment for YU if desired in coordination with
Auditions Officer.
i. Attending weekly meetings.
j. Meet assigned deadlines.
7. Tech and Prep Officer
a. Shall help the Program Director with CN planning.
b. Assist in organizing auditions.
c. Work with performers to map stage, provide lighting and music.
d. Assist with Fashion Show and Flag Ceremony.
e. Shall work as Tech & Prep crew during CN and the 2 required rehearsals
prior to CN
f. Shall become familiar with lighting equipment and sound system of
Thorpe Langley Theater prior to rehearsals.
g. Recruit students to this committee and involve them in the process
h. Attending weekly meetings.
i. Meet assigned deadlines.

All officers selected should also be able to commit to other duties as follow:

WSA 2015-2016

Participate in planning retreat on Friday, October 4th.


Aid all other Executive Committee members as required.
Provide time to be able to promote WSA (such as tabling for events, selling
tickets, meeting with other officers, etc.).
Maintain a GPA average of 2.0 or higher.

All officers selected should also be able to expect the following:


To be able to delegate tasks to other people such as committee members and
not take responsibility for everything (we are a team!).
To always have someone to help you.
To enjoy your duties, not to be overwhelmed by them.
To develop leadership, communication, planning, and creative skills.
To have fun!
