Adventure
Some genre conventions for adventure are that they are
typically located in a far off locations for example
distant islands or tropic jungles.
Normally based on historic events or legends.
They are normally searching for treasure.
Science fiction
Typical things in a sci-fi film are lots of technology and
complicated gadgets to enhance the effect of alien
technology etc
Typically set on a space ship or out in space or on a
different planet
Western
Gangs conflict are always involved also crimes like bank
robbing or train jacking's.
In almost every western there will be a screen involving
a saloon.
Duels/ stand off are always involved between the good
and bad side of the storyline.
Linear narrative
A film with a straight forward story from start to finish.

Non-linear Narrative
A film with a complex story which bounces from the
present to the past and to the future.

Flashback
Going back to what has previously happened.

A story that is realistic.

A film with an ending that is open to interpretation.
