AUTOMATIC DIPPING PROCESS CONTROL

SYNOPSIS
To increase the productivity and to overcome skilled labour shortage,
most of the manufacturing industries are going for automation. The main
aim for us to select the project work is to acquire practical knowledge in the
field of automation using microcontroller.
We selected AUTOMATIC DIPPING PROCESS

CONTROL as our

project work and we used principles of Mechatronics in developing this


project work, the dipping mechanism is achieved by controlling the sliding
and feeding unit with the microcontroller chip.Sliding unit slides by DC
motor and the feeding unit has a double acting cylinders which is
reciprocated by solenoid operated 5/2 way DC valve which is actuated
through the microcontroller.
Our project consists two containers having chemical solutions on
which the components are immersed for a period of time .the components
are carried by the cylinder unit which is moved by the DC motor .The whole
process is control automatically with the PIC microcontroller. This has
motivated us to do the project through microcontroller.

Advantages;
1. The use of air cylinder reduces operator effort
2. Operator effort was reduced considerably and the job

conveyed

much easier and faster


3. Air operated device is quicker in action more constant in conveying
and more convenient than hand operated device and save human
energy
4. Increases the versatility of machining performed
5. Reduces waste motions which cause fatigues to worker
Considerable savings in time are possible from the use of air control devices
