Jing meis mother let she attend the talent show.


Jing mei played very badly because she is very
nervous. After the talent show, Jing mei gave up
on playing piano, but her mother was still forcing
her to continue with her piano lessons.
Jing mei gets very mad because she wanted her
mother to love her as whom she really was. With
anger, she says something that really hurts her
mothers feeling.

Jing meis mother wanted her to


become a piano prodigy. She forced
her to take the piano lessons with
Mr.Chong, a deaf, retired piano
teacher.

The protagonist of this story is a girl named Jing mei.


The setting of this story is at Chinatown in San Jose,
California.
Suyuan Woo is the antagonist in this story. She is Jing meis
mother. Suyuan wanted her daughter to become a prodigy by
testing her every night on many subjects and this causes Jing
mei to get very frustrated.

never plays the piano again.
On her 13th birthday, her mom
bought her a second-hand piano
as a gift.

A few months later, after her mother


died, she came back to her mothers
apartment and found the piano she got
on her birthday. She sat down and
played the piano.
