Hauser VEX Robotics 2015-2016

Student Code of Conduct

Students and parents/guardians: please review the following information together. If you decide to apply for
the OPEF VEX Robotics program, you must return this document signed by both the student and a parent or
guardian confirming that you understand and agree to follow these values and policies.

Our Values
We follow the CREATE (Competitive Robotics Enhancing and Advancing Technology in Education) Honor
by Design values.
Our students are:
Honest
- Do whats right, even when no one is looking.
Collaborative
- Act in the best interest of the teams goals and are supportive of each other. They
share knowledge, tools and parts with other teams.
Leaders
- Encourage, praise, involve and constructively challenge their teammates.
Professional
- Are determined, work hard, overcome obstacles, are well trained and act in a
professional manner
Competitive
- Always give their best. They are humble in victory and gracious in defeat. They are
respectful of teammates, coaches and mentors, competitors, judges and spectators.

We also believe that while the guidance of our teachers are a key component of our program, the design,
construction and programming of the robot should be the students work.

Our Policies
Attendance
Students are expected to attend
all
team meetings and competitions unless they have been excused
by a Coach ahead of time. In the event of illness or family emergency, parents should notify the Head
Coach as soon as possible via email or parent note.
Having a practice with another activity is not considered an excused absence.
After 2 unexcused absences, parents will be contacted.
Building and Operating Robots
Only student team members may touch and program their teams robot. Coaches and mentors are
there to teach and advise, but stay hands off. We appreciate parents encouragement and support, but
they must also stay hands off.

Competitions & Scrimmages

We strive to put together a tournament schedule that allows the most students to attend the most
tournaments during our regular 5-month season.
All competitions that our team members attend are approved by the Head Coach and attended with
Hauser VEX Robotics Coach(es). Families will not be allowed to compete in any tournaments without
a Hauser Coach present.

Care and Use of Technology & Equipment

Students are required to follow all school policies during meetings and at tournaments, including the
School District 96 Acceptable Use of Technology Policy that parents and students signed when
receiving their laptops.
Students are expected to put all their equipment away at the end of each meeting and treat the
equipment with care.

Violation of any of our values or policies may be grounds for dismissal from the team.

I have reviewed the Hauser VEX Robotics Student Code of Conduct. In signing this below, I
confirm that I understand and accept of these guidelines and policies and will abide by these
rules.
