certain schools).
To have a clearer grading scheme for the three levels of difficulty (easy,
medium and hard) and to have tasks which actually reflect the grading
with a range of activities for teachers to choose from depending on the
levels of students.
The inclusion of a more diverse range of registers and accents used in
the audio readings.
More scaffolding provided to students in writing.
Bland content and the lack of exercises in the linguistic features of
grammar and vocabulary
Mainly focus on two skills only which is writing and speaking.

How can the KBSM textbooks be improved?


In both textbooks, the deficiencies can be mitigated by the following aspects:

Ensuring teachers are supported with guidebooks and audio CDs.


Providing teachers with a wider selection of tasks which are level-adapted
to the difficulty levels of easy, medium and hard.
Should include foreign speakers and more accents used in audio readings
Applying new words and grammar items learned in subsequent chapters.
