Hispanic Heritage Month

September 15-October 15
"Change in education cannot be implemented on a
piecemeal basis. The administration needs a new
vision, one rooted in the recognition that schools
must provide equal opportunity for all children to
learn if the schools are to fulfill their vital role as
the cornerstone of our democracy."
- Pedro Noguera, Peter L. Agnew Professor of
Education at New York University

Please share how

you celebrated

Here is more information of statistics and facts about

Latinos in the US. A lot of useful information on the
National Council of La Raza website which I really like as
many of the questions they are answering have good
insight. The link is below.

Also, I've used documentaries/learning tools in the past
relating to Black History Month, American History, Latino
Heritage Month, LGBTQ topics, etc. from the Teaching
Tolerance website with high school and middle school
students. They have great resources, tools and learning
kits for all levels, though. You can subscribe to their
magazine and also sign up to receive their educational
movies free of charge. I have most of their documentaries
for anyone who would like to look at them or borrow them
for their class. The one I am sharing with you surrounds
Indigenous People's Day, focusing on grades 3-5. The
link for that is below.
