What is a Contrast & Contradiction?

When youre reading and a character says or
does something opposite (contradicts) what he
has been saying or doing all along.
When this happens, you should stop and ask
yourself:
Why is the character doing that?

Identifying These Signposts

When we come across a Contrast and
Contradiction, it helps us to:
make a meaningful prediction about what
may happen
make an inference about the plot and conflict
