Warm-up:
Lead-in:
Noticing the Language: Have Ss read the text on page 36 and
answers a few questions that will help them notice the sentences with
used to and would.
E.g.: What memory of her great-grandmother does Mi Soon have?
Language Clarification: Elicit the the meaning of used to and would
for past habits, clarify with CCQs, work on pronunciation using drills
and write form on the board.
Controlled Practice: Workbook, page 29, exercise 2.
Less controlled Practice: Workbook, page 29, exercise 3.
Freer Practice: Students book, page 37, exercise 2.
Production: Students book, page 37, exercise 4.

Elementary
Reading: Staying in Shape

Warm-up: Think of an energizing activity that helps you buy time in
case you have late-comers.
Lead-in: Think of a quick activity to help you contextualize the
lesson.
Pre-teaching vocabulary: Pre-teach the following words using
ECDB sneakers / walking outdoors / gym membership (fee)
Reading for Gist: Students book, page 72, exercise C. Ask Ss to
complete the gaps with the missing words. Tell them that they need to
underline two or three words in the paragraph to help them justify
their answers.
Reading for Detail: Students book, page 72, exercise B. There are
six T/F questions write 4 more to supplement the activity (so you will
end up with ten questions). Tell Ss that they need to correct the F
sentences.

Follow-up: Students book, page 72, exercise D.


Listening: Do you enjoy it?

Lead-in: Think of a quick activity to help you contextualize the
lesson.
Pre-teaching vocabulary: Explore the pictures with students (e.g
What sports are they doing? What are they wearing? Who are they?
What happened in the story? Who is she talking to? Why is she angry
here? etc)
Reading for Gist: Students book, page 73, exercise A.
Reading for Detail: Think of 8-10 questions for Ss to answer as they
listen to the recording again. Alternative questions would be good.
You can ask Ss to read the alternatives and highlight key words before
they listen to the passage.
Follow-up: Think of discussion questions about exercises. Consider
the points mentioned in the listening.
