Mother Teresa School Families:

As Thanksgiving approaches we strive to model to the children the beautiful virtues of
generosity, thankfulness and cooperation. Our school has a wonderful tradition which
demonstrates these virtues beautifully. Together we create a delicious stone soup!
The Stone Soup Story will be read at 9:30 am, Monday, October 5. You are
invited to attend.
Please bring in the following items to share for the creation of our annual Stone Soup
on Thursday, October 8. All items should be at the school by Wednesday, October
7 so that our volunteers may begin cooking early in the morning on Thursday,
October 8. If your child has been assigned a vegetable, please wash and cut up
the fresh vegetable into bite sized pieces. A cup or a small ziplock bag of the
item should be plenty.
Each child in the following grades brings:
Kindergartens
a clean medium sized Stone
Grade 1 D. Shields Fresh Diced Spinach
Grade 1 L. Lappin Diced Celery
Grade 1 S. Huleu-Davies
1/3 cup Onions
Grade 2 A. Bush
1 box of Beef Broth/Consomm
Grade 2 N. Ruel
1 box of Beef Broth/Consomm
Grade 3 L. Del Castilho
cup of elbow noodles (macaroni)
Grade 3 N. Elfner
cup of elbow noodles (macaroni)
Grade 4 B. Enright 3 chopped fresh tomatoes
Grade 4 P. Gloria
Diced Carrots
Grade 5 K. Tkachuk 2 Potatoes (washed, peeled and diced)
Grade 6 L. Martin
Diced Zucchini
If you are a school volunteer and interested in volunteering to make the Stone Soup,
please contact Amanda Vlahakis at amandavlahakis@hotmail.com (or fill in and
return the portion below to your childs homeroom teacher by Friday, October 2). The
organizing teachers will be in touch with the parent volunteers.
