(Outstanding Wonderful Learners)
October 2015

Dear Families,
We are learning so much in
first grade! In ELA were
learning how to ask and
answer questions using key
details from literature and
informational texts. We are
also improving our writing
by learning to identify
nouns, verbs, and
adjectives. In math we
have learned several
strategies to help us add
quickly we are almost ready
for subtractions! Some are
strategies include using
number-lines, number
triangles/fact families,
representation (drawing
pictures), and memoryjust
to name a few. As we end
September and enter
Wise O.W.L.s of the
Month
Azzure, Rain, Yariel,
Isyss, and Alijah!
Thanks for showing positive
behavior all month!

Weekly Homework
ELA and Math:
1. Read 20 min. everyday and log your
time on your reading log.
2. Use spelling and vocabulary words
in daily conversation with students.
3. Complete ELA and Math short
homework in O.W.L. Book MondayThursday.
4. Complete 1 reading response.
Practice makes perfect! Please
attempt homework nightly spending no
more than 15 minutes on each subject to
help support learning in the classroom.
