Sotang

Sotang is a sub caste of the Rai people or the Kirati people which was initially the residence of a place Sotang.
Sotang []: Sotang is one of the villages scattered
in the district of Solukhumbu, Sagarmatha zone in Nepal.
In other words, it can be said Sotang is a village in
Mount Everest region. The word Sotang is derived
from Sotto. Sotto was an ancestor of a Kirant dynasty
in the region. Currently, the inhabitants of Sotang are
mainly Rai, Chhetri, Kami, Sherpa, Tamang, Brahmin,
Damai, Gurung etc.
Dachhelu is a major village located in Sotang. This name
was also derived from the name of a Kirant king who belonged to Natsiring Kirant dynasty.
Well-known Sotang people are Uday Sotang and Manila
Sotang, veteran singers of Nepal.
