Psalm Thirty Seven-A Psalm of David

Part One

Psalm 37:1
Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious
against the workers of iniquity.
David is saying dont worry and dont be irritated with the workers of
evil. They work against you, why envy them when they will soon fall.

Psalm 37:2
For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

When you cut grass it doesnt take long for it to wither and die when
the sun shines on it. So the evildoers have a short time before their
end comes.

Psalm 37:3
3

Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily
thou shalt be fed.

As believers we put our trust in our God and we serve Him by going
around doing good. This is pleasing to our heavenly Father, who loves
us. You do unto others as you would have them do unto you, God
takes care of His own, that you Jesus!

Psalm 37:4
Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the
desires of thine heart.
When our lives are centered on the Lord and He always comes first,
then all things work together for good to them that love Him and are
called according to His purpose. He is there when we call on Him. We
4

delight in Him and in turn He delights in us. He knows the desires of

our heart even before we ask Him.

Psalm 37:5
Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall
bring it to pass.

To commit is to cast all your cares upon the Father because He cares
for you.
I Peter 5:7
7
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

When you decide to make a total commitment and not compromise

or straddle the fence and start trusting God for a change, you entrust
your life to Him then prayers will be answered. Davids life was a life
of dedication and prayer.

Psalm 37:6
And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and
thy judgment as the noonday.
The righteous will shine on that noon day and the judge will be
pleased!
Psalm 37:7
Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself
because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the
man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
The waiting on the Lord is a gift from God They that wait upon the
Lord shall renew their strength, they shall run and not be weary, they
4

shall walk and not faint. Wait patiently for Him and He will incline His
ear and hear your cry. When the wicked prosper that is all the reward
they get it is temporal. What God has prepared for His own is
eternal!!

Psalm 37:8
Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any
wise to do evil.
Do not be tempted because of trials, dont get angry and go the
wrong way. Revenge is mine saith the Lord and He will take care of
us.

Psalm 37:9 5

For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the
LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

The prayer and the waiting will bring us closer to the Lord and to the
desires of our heart!
