Topic Sentence

To the Rescue!
The Hero of your Paragraph
The topic sentence tells the reader what your paragraph is
about and keeps you on track!
The topic sentence is the first sentence and tells you what
every other sentence in the paragraph will be about.
The topic sentence is strong and to the point. It should punch
the reader and get them interested in the paragraph.
The topic sentence should reappear in the last sentence just
using different words.

Writing Hints
1. Brainstorm your ideas first and then find what
your ideas have in common.
2. State a fact, or restate the writing prompt,
add an interesting detail or ask the question
you will be answering in your writing.
3. Make sure it is clear, to the point and without
errors. It is the first impression and lets the
reader know what to expect.
