Past Event Highlight


ESC Mentor/Mentee Event

ESC launched its new and improved


mentor-mentee program and our first
event was a great success. Mentors and
mentees went to the Carnegie Museum
of Natural History!

Engineering Student Council


Rocky Horror Picture Show
Give yourself over to absolute
pleasure at this annual ESC
event. This screening of the
Rocky Horror Picture Show includes a shadow cast, prop bags
for the audience, and popcorn.
Tuesday October 27th
Doors open at 8:30. Show
starts at 9pm.
WPU Assembly Room
Its a guaranteed party!

Fall Fest
Come out and celebrate fall at another classic ESC event.
Therapy dogs will be there along
with Kan Jam and other lawn games.
Were hoping to have some snacks
and cider too, so be sure to stop by
and see whats going on.

Happy Fall everyone!
1. Upcoming Events
a. General Body Meeting
i. Our 2nd General Body Meeting is Thursday October 8th from
8:00-9:00 pm.
ii. Get caught up on SWEs events and future events we have
planned. Plus free pizza!
b. MSED
i. Middle School Engineering Day (MSED) is on Saturday 10/17.
ii. Check out our website for more details to sign up!
2. Societal Conference
a. Your e-board and SWE members will be traveling to the National
SWE Conference this month in Nashville, TN on Oct 21st Oct 24th!

Phi Sigma RhoSocial Engineering Sorority ()


This has been such an exciting month for Phi Sigma Rho! We went
"Geocaching" with the girl scouts, had our outdoorsy semester retreat, and participated in Panhel's Hazing Prevention Week. We celebrated our national
Founder's Day on the 24th (Happy 31st Birthday PSR) with our actives, candidates and alumnae. Oh... and did I mention that we inducted eight new wonderful girls into the Alpha
Zeta candidate class!?

Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES)


1. Record Number of Undergraduates Attending National Conference: This year, the Bioengineering Department at Pitt is sending 44 undergraduate students to the National Biomedical Engineering Society Conference in Tampa Florida! Good luck to all those presenting!
2. Successful BMES Kayaking Social: Last Saturday, we had close to 40
students attend our BMES Kayaking Social on the North Shore. It was a
great day with some even greater people. Keep an eye out for fun social
events to come.
3. Upcoming Outreach and Service Events: We have a lot of great outreach events coming up. We will be volunteering at Global Links in November (Dates TBD) as well as organizing other events. If you're interested in
getting involved with some of these projects, contact pittbmes@gmail.com

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)


This month IEEE will be holding general body meetings on October 7th & 21st. Also Pumpkin Carving
is tentatively scheduled for October 22-24. If you would like to be added
to IEEEs emailing list, you can contact us at ssoeieee@gmail.com.

American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)


ASME will be hosting a BBQ as its first informal gathering of the semester
on Benedum Patio from 12-2 on Thursday, October 1st! All MechEs are
welcome to attend. See you there!

Engineers Without Borders (EWB)


Come join us to work on fundraising for our projects,
implementing an urban garden for a Food Pantry in
Oakland, or designing our water treatment system
for our project in the Brazilian Amazon! Contact us
with any questions or to be added to our email
