Throughout the first mon of this year we will be focussing on the skills of observing, questioning, gathering
data. To be able to develop your critical thinking skills you must first learn to see the big picture and ask
the right questions.

Power Paragraph Assignments related to other subjects (Geography, Health, Science Labs,

Math Transversals
Determine, the angle relationships for intersecting lines and for parallel lines and
transversals, and the sum of the angles of a triangle;
Solve angle-relationship problems involving triangles and parallel lines and transversals

Assessment
You and your group have been assigned a region within the world. That region is yours for
the remainder of the year. You will be in control of developing it, cultivating it and guiding
it throughout the course of history.
Unit Calendar
and will take the form of a group information poster. All members of the group must
participate and contribute. The second section is an independent assignment and will
be presented to the class.
Assignments: Cube
Lab Station Safety: Review the text book, the construction safety passport and the other
resource to create an overall understanding of the safe procedures in a lab.
Lab Safety Quiz

By the end of the month you will have completed the construction of your Countrys
Cubes.
The cube must follow the instructions completely. Accuracy is key, and will be monitored.
Complete training to use tools and pass a lab safety quiz
Follow the blue-print fully.
Measure and re-measure to confirm.
All cuts must be accurate
Art
For the beginning of the year you are going to develop an Art Portfolio.
Assignments:
During the year you will be asked to complete an art portfolio.
You must complete a minimum of 10 pieces of art each term.
