your school laptop, tablet/ ipad or electronic reader. Your soft
furnishing must fit your selected piece of technology and
provide room for a power cords or headphones. The item must
have a zip or a similar opening and provide some protection

$25. Try and use material that you already have or recycle
clothes to save money. You have 8 weeks to complete your soft
furnishing, together with your process journal. You are to
show at least three forms of embellishments on the bag or
case to make it look original. The construction of your article
must be completed both at school and in your own time. You

What is a process journal?

A process journal supports the working
processes required to produce a product
for an intended purpose by documenting
the planning and management of
resources and the exploration, use,
development and refinement of skills.
It includes:

The documentation of trials, test

finding and/or data collection.
Reflects on planning, process and
product.
Provides insight into your decision
making and courses of action.
Shows evidence of experimentation,
modification, technique testing,
design, creativity, imagination,
originality, design, cuttings, annotated
drawings and sketches. Annotated
photographs are also useful to assist
with evidencing stages of the process
as well as the product.
Demonstrate the development and
refining of practical skills.
The process journal should be
structured so there is a progression
from simple to more complex task
over the course of study.
Demonstrates that your work is selfdirected.

DESIGN BRIEF 2

You are completing work experiencing at the multi national

corporation Apple. They have asked for THREE different
design choices for an ipod or iphone case that will enhance
the usability of this product. To impress your senior product
developers you must demonstrate your ability to encorporate
creative design and mastery of textile skills. You have also
decided to include 3 embellishment techniques over the 3
devices to give it that individual appearance. The total cost
of your three designs should not exceed $25. Try and use
scrap material or recycle material from another garment to
save money. The construction of your ipods or iphone cases
must be both at school and in your own time. You will be
assessed on quality construction, time management,

SCAFFOLDING

You may like to utilize www.polyvore.com
4. Draw your design this is to be in the form on an annotated (labeled) diagram What is your practical item
