ITS THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN!

WHAT DO YOU NEED?

Hello Parents and Students!

To my students, I am so excited to have
you in my class this year! To the parents,
I cannot wait to meet you all on Parent
Night!
My name is Ms. Layn and I will be
teaching 4th grade this year. This is my
first year to be teaching this grade, but
will be my 5th year teaching overall. I
earned my degree at the University of
Arkansas Fort Smith, and I will actually
be starting graduate school this year for a
Masters in Library Sciences. Not to worry
parents, my utmost concern is to be your
childs teacher, and I will therefore only be
taking a single class per school semester,
with more in the summers.
My plan for your child is to help them
learn what they need to, but to also help
them develop a passion. That is what will
take place during Independent Study (see
class schedule for time). I want them to
have time to learn about something they
want to learn about, explore what can be
done with their topic, and even teach
about it to the rest of the class. I want my
students to know that learning can be fun,
and that there is not just one specific way
to do something.
Parents I do hope to have you involved in
our class. Whether this be through field
trip chaperones, coming in on career
days, or even coming to school
assemblies and sitting with your child. I
want them to know that you care about
their education. I know not all of you can
be available to just come in to the class,

so all I truly ask of you is that you
encourage your child in their education.
One compliment can be the difference
between them keeping going, or falling
behind. They need to know we are in this
together in helping them create a better
future.
