Willian B, Aycock, 0350118, Lieutenant Colonel, Headquarters Second
Battalion, 36th Infantry Regiment, for meritorious service in connection
with military operations against an enemy of the United States in Germany,
from 26 February 1945 to 25 March 195, Lieutenant Colonel Aycock assumed
command of his battalion while it was engaged in penetrating the Siegfried
Line, Against stiff enemy resistance, heave woods, steep grades, mud and
heavy mine fields, Lieutenant Colonel Aycock skillfully led the battalion
to its objectives. On 2h March, near Boppard, Germany, Lieutenant Colonel
Aycock received orders to move his battalion across the Rhine River, AS a
result of careful planning and organization, the entire battalion was moved
across in less than two hours and an attack was launched that resulted
the killing and capturing of many of the enemy, Ieutenant Colonel
efficient planning and tactical skill are in keeping with the
