July 09--A 27-year-old driver who was stopped for a traffic infraction did not have a license or any ID card, and when
he consented to a search of his vehicle, police found a revolver and ammunition in the vehicle, according to court
papers.
The traffic stop occurred Wednesday in the area of 162nd Avenue and Burnside Street.
Gresham police found a chrome .38-caliber revolver in the car, between the driver's seat and the center console,
Multnomah County deputy district attorney Kelley A. Cloyd wrote in a probable cause affidavit.
An officer also located 17 loose .38-caliber special rounds in the center console, another 31 rounds of ammunition in
a box on the car's floorboard and another 39 rounds of .32-caliber ammunition in the trunk, the affidavit said.
The driver, Alan Lee Brock Jr., also was wanted on a felony warrant from Lane County for violating his release
conditions stemming from a felon in possession of a firearm allegation, according to court records.
Police searched Brock as well, and seized a baggy of methamphetamine from him, the affidavit said.
Brock told police he had the gun out of concern for his safety because of all the guns on the street, and the meth he
uses makes him paranoid, Cloyd wrote in the affidavit.
He was previously convicted of possession of methamphetamine in Multnomah County in November 2009.
Brock was arraigned in Multnomah County Circuit Court Thursday afternoon on allegations of carrying a concealed
weapon, failure to display identification, driving with a suspended license, possession of heroin and felon in
possession of a firearm.
He's being held at Multnomah County's Inverness Jail, and is due back in court July 17.
