Were Doing Great And Getting Better!

Kids in Action!
The line Learning is Fun was translated into experience as the
camp took place in July and August at Paradise English Boracay. It was
participated by approximately 32 campers. The PE summer camp consists
of various professionally-designed classes and activities that correspond to
the needs and interests of the campers. They all seemed excited to discover
and experience the importance of the English language in this everchanging, competitive world where the language proficiency is an edge. In
addition, they were able to meet new people from different countries who
share the same goals. Furthermore, they could explore the beauty of the
island and hone their skills as they unleashed their adventurous side while
experiencing various activities the island has to offer. All campers went
back to their countries with smiles in their faces, some knowledge acquired, new friends and wonderful memories that made them long to
come back for more. Most of the campers said that this was one memorable vacation for they have achieved far beyond their expectations.

enny is a pioneering employee of PE.

She remembers the time when there
were only three people; Claus, Stephanie and herself, with only two students. Over the 10
years since Penny started working, the school has
grown to what it is today from a humble Nipa hut.
Penny's family is from Banga. Her father, a farmer
and carpenter, her mother looking after her and her
siblings. They struggled to send Penny to University
but were not disappointed as she successfully studied
accountancy at Garcia College of Technology in
Kalibo. Penny is now married with two sons of her
own and after 10 loyal years at Paradise English, she
plays an important role in the administration and financial aspects of the school.

ackie's real name is Jhucky, however we

all call him Jackie.

Jhucky, along with his wife, looks after

the well being of the students who stay at the dormitory of Paradise English. Jhucky has worked for Paradise English for about 3 years. He does many things
from carpentry to plumbing to gardening. Jhucky
does even more than that, he sees that the students
have all their needs met and works hard to make sure
they feel comfortable. As you enter Paradise English
Dormitory, you feel you are entering a kind of oasis
as it is peaceful and clean. The gardens are so well
kept, thus add to the general ambience of the place.
Recently, Jhucky has joined about 20 students on a
trip to Crystal Cove. Jhucky bought the food along
and grilled BBQ for them. The students all praised
him for his tasty cooking.

Dance your way to Fitness

Stress and long working hours can be such a bummer. Suddenly youre all worn out
and just want to hit the sack after what seemed to be a long week. Luckily, there are a lot of ways to
de-stress and stay fit at the same time. But not most of us are a fan of running and some loathe
working out in the gym. If you are one of those people well, try zumba!
Zumba is the new way of getting fit. It is a dance-based work-out with a combination of hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue and mambo. It has an overall impact on our body, it
strengthens the core, thighs and butt. Theres nothing like cranking up your favourite dance music
and just let your body flow.
Paradise English students and teachers definitely got hooked with this dance fitness
routine. Mandala Spa created a program which provides different kinds of fitness programs. This includes classes in zumba, jazz dance, pole dancing and yoga. So what are you waiting for? Join, get fit
and have fun all in one!

What colour are you going to be today?

hat makes blue so blue and white so white? I am sitting on a Sunday afternoon listening to the rain. I love the sound of the rain and the atmosphere it produces. I love it because I know where I am sitting, here on a
tropical island with a cool breeze, palm trees and a beach nearby. I know my surroundings,
I also know what comes next. It will be the hot sun which turns the beach to bright yellow
and the sea a beautiful blue, combined with azure and even turquoise. The rain and the sun
complement each other and this paradigm of change is quite profound. How could I appreciate the sun if it did not give way to the rain or the night time? How could I appreciate the
rain if I had not experienced the heat and dryness of the sun? So in answer to the question,
what makes the blue so blue and the white so white? It is their contrast to each other. This
is what our lives are like and in our hours of sadness we often forget that the good times
will return especially if our bad times are awful. Situations always change, emotions and
influences change too. If you could see each day as a clean white sheet, you can be whatever colour you want to be. Imagine that a colour represents who or how you are being. Blue
for example is fresh, strong or smart. Yellow, bright, happy or cheerful. Pink, flamboyant,
bright and fun. Be a bright colour and everything and everyone around you will be attracted by your brightness. You will complement the back ground. The colours and light you
give out will reflect back to you giving you positive energy. Sometimes it is tough, challenging and feels almost impossible, but by generating yourself through any gloomy or negative situations or emotions, your energy and enthusiasm and love for who you are will be
an overwhelming influence. Someone much wiser than me once said. 'Enjoy the breakdown, as you are just about to have a break through'. This piece of advice has remained
with me for over 10 years and it works every time. Belief, gratitude, respect for yourself
and love of others will win through. Every time. What colour are you going to be today?
