GME Intro To Career
We thank you for showing interest as a career in Merchant Navy and take this opportunity to highlight the
career entry and progression details.
Training Institute for a period of 8 Months pre-sea training followed by onboard ship training program as
Engine Cadet for a period of 4 months. On successful completion of the 12 months course (GME course),
the candidate will be placed on board our vessels as Junior Engineers.
Entry Exam and Medicals
Pre -sea Course: - The Pre-sea Training will be
imparted to the selected candidates to make them
Marine Engineers. The Course is designed as per
the international standards and conducted at our
DGS approved Training Institute in India. The
Practical intensive course will also introduce the
candidate to Marine Engineering, Naval
Architecture,
Ship
Building,
Marine
Environmental and Safety Regulations. On
successful completion of the course, the candidate
is given a Certificate and CDC from the
Government of India/ DGS and he/she then is
eligible to sail on ships as a Junior Engineer.
Shipping needs competent people and the
standards are set by IMO (Under United Nations).
In India all the maritime regulations are governed
by DGS and Ministry of surface Transport.

Not more than 28 Yrs at the time of joining the Pre -sea Institute.

Psychometric Evaluation
Final Interview
Medical Examination and eye sight test.
Successful candidates will be nominated to undergo a 1 year Pre sea Training course prior to joining the ship and
would cost all inclusive approximately 3.5 lakhs. This fee covers all the expenses including the Hostel, Messing
