CCSS: OA.1 Use addition and subtraction

(within 10) to solve word problems involving
situations of adding to, taking from, putting
together, taking apart, and comparing, with
unknowns (in the result position).

Vocabulary: fiction, non-fiction, text features

Strategy: students will identify the features of
fiction and non-fiction texts.

Steps:
1. Look for the
important parts of

2. Solve it using
different strategies
and tools.
3. Record work on
the word problem
template.
4. Double check the
answer.
