Seminar Self-Assessment

1. Self assess:
I would give myself a B or a B plus for seminar participation. I did well in the area of
perspective because I stayed on topic, told my perspective, asked and answered questions from
people, and offered some solutions that I had researched such as wetlands. For evidence/text
references, I cited my sources for evidence several times and I used a quote from Silverton
Flirting with Superfund when discussing environmental impact. As for
communication/clarification, I listened intently when I wasnt speaking. I dont think that I
fulfilled the connections and seminar leadership as well as I could have because I didnt speak up
very often or make personal connections, so thats why Id say the B.
2. Self Critique:
I think I presented my opinion to the first question very well and I backed it with
evidence and cited my sources. I also talked about what I thought could be solutions to help the
environment. I didnt have much to offer to the question of environmental health because I had
done my extensive research on other questions, but I did learn a lot from listening. I was really
nervous when I talked, so I dont think my ideas were as clear or thought-provoking as I wanted
them to be, and I didnt want to dominate the conversation so I ended up not saying enough. For
my next seminar, Ill try to talk more frequently, but not so long every time. Ill also come
prepared to discuss every question instead of only several of them.
