 In the medieval age, the clergy used to write
books;
 Johannes Gutenberg was the official creator
of the press;
 Industrial Revolution increased mass
comunication.

 The first written supports were
made in clay;
 The egypts used papyri for the same effects;
 The papyri was replaced by parchment in Asia;
 The first printed book was the Bible.
THE NEWSPAPER
 The first newspaper known was the roman
“Acta Diurna” – it was written on stone
boards.
 The Industrial Revolution

had a huge importance for

the printing press.
THE MAGAZINE
 The magazine was created to make the
connection between the written texts and
the iconic texts.
 The illustrated magazine brought new
impulses to the typeface design.
