Re: Peer Evaluation of Technical Description

During this assignment, it was challenging for me because I did not know how specific to make
my instructions. I did not want to be too simple and let it leave room for confusion, but I also did
not want to over-explain myself and be redundant. Something that also proved to be a challenge
was creating the images in order to make it come across to readers who are more visual. I wanted
the figures to be simple and easy to follow.

However, after writing my instructions the first time, I conducted a usability test on myself using
my instructions. I realized that I needed to be more detailed about certain things, as well as
eliminate some notes that were not necessary. This really helped me overcome my insecurities
about not being too vague or too redundant. I also decided to draw the visuals as a step-to-step
process that highlighted each facial feature so that it was easy to follow.

All in all, having someone attempt to follow the instructions was the most beneficial part of
making sure that my instructions were adequate. It also really showed me how important details
are, and how what is common sense to someone may not necessarily be common sense to
someone else.
