From the Principals Desk

Welcome back to school! I look
forward to a year of learning and
partnership. The staff and I are
committed to supporting every
scholar at Oak Springs Elementary.
Along with the Parent Support
Specialist (Professor Jimenez), it is
my expectation to clearly
communicate our beliefs about
partnering with families. Throughout
the year, I plan to share our ideas
and invite your input during our
parent meetings titled "Family
Reunions" and other meeting
opportunities to share information
regarding the events for you and
children during the school year.

CIS

At Oak Springs, I believe it is

important for families and the staff
at Oak Springs to work together and
share responsibility for your child's
success. I want our scholars to know
the importance of the staff and
families working together to support
the work at our school. We are a
FAMILY this year's campus theme.
I welcome you to an AMAZING
2015-2016 school year at Oak
Springs.
Sincerely,
Monica Woods

Protect Your Child from the Flu

The flu(influenza)is caused by a virus thats

easy to spread, especially among kids in school
or daycare.
To protect your child
Heres how you can help your child stay
healthy:

Have your child get a fluvaccine every

year, as soon as it is available in your
area. This is your childs best chance
to avoid the flu. The CDC recommends
that infants and children get flu
vaccines beginning at 6 months of age.
The vaccine may be a shot or nasal
spray. Your child's health care provider
will determine which is best for your
child.

Help your child wash his or her hands

often.

Don't allow your child to drink from

the same cupor share other foods.

Teach your child to cough or sneeze

into his or her elbow, sleeve, or a
tissue, and to wash their hands
afterward.
Free flu vaccineswill be coming to Oak Springs
soon. Look for information in your student's
backpack.
