5. a. Determine the centre of pressure of the component shown in fig (1) dimension are in
mm. (2.5 marks)
b. A steel component of 20 x 60 mm is to be made from 2mm thick sheet sketch the scrap
strip layout and find percentage of stock used. (2.5 marks)

6. A part shown in fig (2) is to be made from a strip of a mild steel (=0.007 Kg/cm 3) which
is 3mm thick and 2m long. Determine strip layout, No of parts that can be punched from
the strip, Percentage of stock used, weight of the material needed to produce one blank.
