Signs (working title)

Two people are drawn together due to being equally hated, but
have difficulty talking due to ones deafness, after some
drama the two reconcile in the park and quietly sit together,
understanding of each others faults.

Boy: Brash and quick to judge, but shy due to the way he
presents himself, is able to trust in the girl due to her
understanding nature.
Girl: More than a little quiet, and can only communicate
through sign language and note passing, her difficulties in
communication lead to her being isolated, but feels confident
in the boy due to his honesty.

The story involves the boy and the girl, covers the main story
of the two connecting over time in complete silence, the story
happens over a period of only a month or two, in a college
setting.

Act 1:
The story begins with our main characters at opposite ends of
the classroom, a clear line is drawn between them and the
others in the class, as time passes, eventually only they are
left in the class, as the girl moves her chair towards the
boy, he initially yells her away, but following this the girl
points at her ear and gives a short wave with her other hand,
the sound stops, and music begins.
The two begin to talk, and slowly they help each other over
the course of several lessons, the girl begins to teach him
some sign language, something that the boy doesnt quite
attempt so much, but the two interact more and more.
Act 2:
They continue like this for a while, until the girl signs
something to the boy, he brushes it off to the girls offence,
slowly the two talk less and less as personal troubles come

spiralling in, the girl is attacked by her classmates and the


boy is attacked by his, eventually the boy sees her at the end
of the road during his walk home, seeing her kissed by one of
his attackers, he leaves too late to see her reaction, as she
slaps the boy in anger.
Act 3:
The boy completely avoids the girl, until an accidental
meeting in the park, the boy still angry, sits away from the
girl, but after she repeats her previous signing, the boy
repeats it back to her, and they sit together, ending the
scene.
