Final Problem Set in SRBN01E
General Instructions: Write your answers on the answer sheet provided. Write all relevant
solution properly. Solution that are found lacking, incorrect or unclear may result in an item to
be considered null and void. Express all answers in 2 decimal places with the proper unit and
direction as necessary.
PART I. FRICTION

A 100 N block is placed on top of a 250 N wedge which lies along a ramp of 30 inclination.
1. Determine the maximum value of P if the block will remain in equilibrium.
2. What is the minimum value of the coefficient of static friction if the wedge is to remain
in equilibrium.
3. If the force P is applied in the opposite direction (to the left), find the minimum value of
the coefficient of static friction if the wedge is to remain in equilibrium.
PART II. CENTROID

Determine the centroid of the figure shown above with respect to axes indicated.

Name: ________________________

The figure shown is an area bounded by 2 pairs of tangent semi-circles at point O (8 quarter
circle arcs) of radius 30 cm. Determine the polar moment of inertia at point O.
PART IV. DISTRIBUTED LOAD

Solve for the equivalent concentrated load for each of the distributed load shown, triangular,
parabolic spandrel, and semi-parabola whose vertices are both at point B, in order to
determine the reactions at the support.
PART V. SHEAR and BENDING MOMENT DIAGRAM

Draw the shear and bending moment diagram of the beam shown above.
