    The human digestive system begins with ingestion of food in the oral cavity. In the mouth, both mechanical and chemical digestion occur. Mechanical digestion involves chewing food into smaller pieces, while chemical digestion begins as saliva contains the enzyme ptyalin which breaks down starches. From the mouth, food moves to the esophagus and into the stomach. In the stomach, hydrochloric acid kills bacteria and activates the enzyme pepsin to break down proteins into peptides. The partially digested contents then enter the small intestine where pancreatic juices and bile further break nutrients into absorbable molecules like amino acids and monosaccharides.

    The oral cavity
    The first step in the process of food digestion is putting the food into
    the oral cavity. Now imagine that you were eating fried rice. A
    spoonful of rice is being put into your mouth/oral cavity, and you
    then chew it. In the oral cavity the food is mixed with the saliva to
    be chewed.

    What happens when the food is chewed?

    When the food is being chewed,. This process is a part of the


    mechanical digestion. The mechanical digestion is a process of
    breaking the food physically into smaller parts. Next, the food will be
    digested chemically. The chemical digestion is a breakingdown
    process of food into smaller molecules by using enzymes.
    MOUTH
    In the mouth there is a mechanical
    and chemical digestion
    Functions of Ptyalin enzyme to
    convert Amilum into simple
    carbohydrates (maltose)
    The enzyme is produced by:
    1. Sub mandible gland
    2. Sub lingual gland
    TONGUE
    • The main function of the
    tongue in digestive
    system is sensitive organ

    moving the food to
    place it on between the
    teeth

    usus penyerapan (Illeum)

    muara saluran empedu dan
    kelenjar pankreas
    • Cairan empedu berfungsi
    untuk mengemulsi lemak agar
    bisa dicerna lebih lanjut

    Pankreas mengeluarkan
    enzim sebagai berikut:
    1. Tripsinogen diaktifkan oleh
    entrokinase yang berfungsi
    untuk mencerna protein
    menjadi asam amino
    2. Amilase mencerna amilum
    menjadi glukosa
    3. Lipase mencerna lemak
    menjadi asam lemak dan
    gliserol
    Pencernaan secara kimiawi
