This document provides instructions for a math game called "Land Grab" that teaches multiplication, division and area. Players take turns rolling dice and coloring in arrays on grid paper equal to the dice numbers to claim land, with the goal of covering the most area to win. As space runs low, players must split arrays across the grid. The game extends learning area concepts while practicing multiplication facts.

A maths game to learn about multiplication, division and area!
You will need: A coloured pencil each 2 x 6-sided dice 1cm grid paper (A4) Dice mat
To extend the task:
Try using an A3 sheet of 1cm grid paper and 10sided dice
Game instructions and rules:
1. Player 1 rolls 2 dice for their partner. Dice
need to land on the dice mat. 2. Player 2 voices the multiplication fact. 3. Player 2 colours an array of squares to show the numbers rolled (E.g. Roll 4 and 6, colour an array 4 x 6 or 6 x 4 squares). 4. Label the array with the equation and answer (e.g. 4 x 6 = 24) 5. Player 2 now rolls for Player 1. 6. Players continue to take turns of rolling dice and colouring in the arrays. 7. Game continues with the aim to colour the entire grid. As the area available decreases, players begin to split their arrays to colour in the required area. 8. Players keep a running tally of their land acquired 9. The winner is the player who has the greatest area of land.
