On October 19th, students are encouraged to dress in 50's attire to celebrate the 50th day of school with sock hop activities. Book Character Day will be held on October 30th where students should dress as their favorite book character. In the classroom, lessons will focus on ending blends in phonics, finding main ideas and details in reading, using apostrophes for possession in writing, and subtracting numbers 0-20 in math, as well as learning about pumpkins in social studies.

    Announcements:
    Parent conference day is
    Thursday, October 15th. If you
    are unable to meet on the 15th
    please email me so we can set
    up a day and time for a
    conference.
    Fall break is October 15th -16th.
    There is no school for
    students on these days.
    Monday October 19th is our
    50th day of school. Children
    are encouraged to dress in
    50s attire. We will have a sock
    hop and other 50s themed
    activities to celebrate.
    Friday, October 30th is Book
    Character Day. Please help
    your child dress up as his or
    her favorite book character.
    Picture retakes have been
    changed to Tuesday,
    November 10th.

    A Peek at Our Week


    Reading/Language Arts: Our phonics skill for
    this week is ending blends. We will read and
    write words with ending blends. In reading
    comprehension we will focus on finding the
    main idea and key details in a story. In writing
    we are working on using apostrophes with
    possessive nouns.
    Math: We are subtracting with numbers 0-20.
    We will continue to review addition facts and
    strategies.
    Social Studies: We are learning about
    pumpkins.
