Accounting People who work in these occupations keep very careful track of how money is spent in a company or

organization. They carefully record what is spent in categories determined by the budget or government
regulations. They give reports about expenses to managers, members of boards of directors, and to government
agencies.
Business Finance People who work in this group of occupations are concerned with the finances of a company or

organization. They plan the companys budget and watch the cash flow. They pay all the bills, and they decide
how the company should invest its profits.
Insurance People who work in these occupations offer different kinds of insurance policies to clients. These may

include life insurance, homeowners insurance, and medical insurance, for example. They explain and sell these
policies to clients.
Planning People who work in these occupations plan for the future of a specific town, city, or rural area. They

make decisions about how much land should be used for homes, for public buildings, and for agriculture. They
may plan for roads, schools, and areas for recreation. In making these decisions, they attempt to protect the
environment.
Information Support and Services Many who work in this group of occupations collect, enter, and analyze data
by computer. Some organize computer databases. Others write computer programs. Still others design the logic of
computer systems and oversee their operation.

Emergency and Fire Management Services People who work in this group protect the public by helping when

there are emergencies. Some rescue people who are trapped in a fire, car accident, or natural disaster such as a
tornado or flood. Others drive and provide emergency medical care to patients in ambulances or at home before
they arrive at a hospital. Still others oversee and manage rescue operations.
Natural Resources Systems People who work in this group of occupations do a variety of things to protect the

environment. These may include making and enforcing plans to protect our forests and national parks. Their work
may also include protecting places for wild animals to live.
Plant Systems People who work in this group of occupations study plants and how they grow. They help farmers

to take care of natural resources and protect the environment. They also figure out ways to increase the food
value of crops and how to make them less subject to pests and lack of rain.
Animal Systems People who work in this group of occupations figure out better ways to produce meat, poultry,

eggs and dairy products. They study farm animals. Some inspect and determine the quality of animals and food.
Others buy and market farm animals.
Restaurants and Food/Beverage Services People who work in this group of occupations plan and manage
events and facilities where people enjoy food and drinks. These tasks may be done in an airplane, a convention
center, a hotel, a restaurant, or in any other place where social events are held.
