Summary of article
FAA test technology to counter rouge drones an article by Rene
Marsh of CNN talks about the emerging technology being used to
disable unauthorized drones. This anti-drone technology is currently
being tested in airports where there have been accounts of unknown
drones in the area. This new technology will detect any signals that the
drones may put off within a five-mile radius. The representative of the
FAA Peter DeFazio has spoken with the experts of the company CACI
who is responsible for this new technology. The statement given is that
this tracking technology can pinpoint the drone operator and force
the drone to land.
With the increase in reports of unnamed drone activity this
technology could potentially be something that will be used in airports
internationally. FAA Deputy administrator Michael Whitaker has said
that the agency receives about a 100 reports per month. That being
said the article concludes that this increasing number could be
concerning, while others argue that 1,200 a year is not a very large
number. The airports that the technology will be tested on are
unknown and the amount of time the research will last is also
unknown.

When searching the key words with Google the first available
article was published from Federal Aviation Administration. While with
Bing the first article is from Popsci.com. Both of these articles while
reliable sources the better source would have to be the actual FAA site,
due to it being a federal government site and because of its factor in
being apart of the CNN article. However Popscis site gave information
on both what CNN had stated as well as more information on how the
technology works. The article on Popsci also had available links
throughout the article so that more information could be found based
on the reader. However FAAs article on the site was published the
same day as CNN, Popsci was posted March 20,2013 making it less
relevant. Overall I would have to say the information of both search

Justify choice:
The CNN article FAA test technology to counter rogue drones and
the journal article Drone on both were easily accessible for a CCBC
student. However for someone trying to find information in general on
drone and the anti software to disable him or her would have easier
accessibility to CNNs web page. The journal article, which is published
from Foreign Affairs, is more of a timeless article that gives
information. However the journal article while scholarly is more bias
wishing to allow drones more access and not to promote the antisoftware. In contrast CNN has no bias and is simply relaying
information from the FAA for the readers to conduct their own opinion.
Both articles are relaying valuable information on the drone topic in
general however the journal article while bias is more of a timeless
article due to being a scholarly resource.
