QUESTIONS:

Lab12

1. Ideally, the currents in Table 12.1 should be 1, 2, 3,4,6,8 and 10 mA. Give three reasons
why the measured currents were different.
2. After removing the potentiometer and voltmeter at the input of figure 12.1, the circuit
that remains can be used as an electronic voltmeter. Why is this true?
3. Suppose we want 1V to produce 2mA of current in Fig. 12.1, what change can we
make?
4. In figure 12.2, what is the ideal value of output voltage when the input current is 5 mA?
5. After removing the potentiometer, 1k resistor, and ammeter from the input of Figure
12.2, the converter acts like an electronic ammeter. Why is this true?
6. What changes can we make in Figure 12.2 to get an output voltage of 2V when the
input current 1mA?
7. What is the theoretical current gain in Figure 12.3?
8. What is the current gain in Table 12.3 for an input current of 4mA?
ANSWERS:
1 This is because of the error that may have occur. The resistors values
are not equal with its rated value and the potentiometer used is
adjusted to get an approximate value for the voltage needed.
2 It remain the same because an electronic voltmeter is not dependent on
the potentiometer instead dependent on the voltage supplied.
3 The voltage source must be greater than 15 V.
4 The ideal output voltage is around -13 V when the current is 5 mA.
5 It is still a converter because of the input current that alters to a voltage
output.
6 We need to change the Rf or the feedback resistance.
7 45.1627 is the theoretical current.

8 The current gain is 35.2.

ANALYSIS:
In this experiment, the operational amplifier was introduced as an
active circuit that is designed for certain characteristics such as high input
resistance, low output resistance, and a large gain that make it nearly ideal
amplifier. The Theory on op-amp was proved by conducting the experiment.
Just like the last experiment, the circuit must have proper connections to the
op-amp used. The op-amp used in the experiment are also considered
important. And the instruments used such as the function generator and
oscilloscope should be correctly calibrated and used properly to get a more
accurate result. And by following the procedures in the experiment, the
objectives were met.
