Bingo
You can apply this
in the classroom
whenever there is
10 minutes left.
This would be a
fun way to end the
class with students
competing against
each other to see
who is the quickest
at math problems.
Intended for
grades 2-3.
Standard addressed:
Mathematics 2.OA.2
Fluently add and
subtract within 20
using mental
strategies. (Note:
See standard 1.OA.6
for a list
of mental
strategies). By end of
Grade 2, know
from memory all
sums of two onedigit numbers.
SPLASH MATH
You can apply this in the
classroom by using this as
a formative assessment.
This is an easy way for the
teacher to see how
students are
understanding the material
and if they are improving or
not.
Standard addressed:
Mathematics 2.NBT.5
Fluently add and
subtract within 100
using
strategies based on
place value,
properties of
operations, and/or
the relationship
between
addition and
subtraction
Pros: It is great assessment that is easy to grade for the teacher because all
the results are recorded when the students take the quizzes. The quizzes
have fun designs that can keep the student somewhat engaged and gives them
rewards after taking the quizzes.
Cons: It is not as engaging and fun as most apps. It is basically a quiz but
without pencil and paper.
This would be a great time at the end of class to play a fun game
that helps students learn and memorize addition skills. Students
would love this game, so it would be a great way of rewarding
them that they can play if they have good behavior.

You can use this in
the classroom also by
a short attention
breaker to help
students understand
the concept of what
numbers are made up
of. If students are a
little wild, this game
would be a great way
to calm them down
and get their minds
going.
Standard Addressed:
Mathematics 1.OA.7
Understand the
meaning of the equal
sign, and
determine if
equations involving
addition and
subtraction are true
or false. For example,
which
of the following
equations are true
and which are
false? 6 = 6, 7 = 8 1, 5 +
2 = 2 + 5, 4 + 1 = 5 + 2

You could apply this in your classroom
as a fun game for students to compete
against each other. This is a two player
game, and students can learn while
trying to outsmart one another. A great
way to wrap up the class or have a fun
day with.
