Bove Proposes Solution to Legal Quagmire in the 145th

Christina Bove, candidate for the Democratic nomination for New York State Assembly in the
145 District (all of West Seneca and Orchard Park and parts of Buffalo and Lackawanna), today
proposed a compromise to resolve a legal quagmire involving the selection of a Democratic candidate.
th

A dispute has arisen as to whether the Executive Committee of the party or the members of the
county committee in the 145th district have the legal power to nominate. Meetings of both have been
scheduled which could result in two different candidates and endless legal challenges.
Bove stated: I propose that the Executive Committee meeting scheduled for tonight be
adjourned until Thursday night and after the district committee members have met so that the
Executive Committee can ratify the vote of the grassroots committee members. This means that no
one, including the Republican Party, can go to court and try to vacate the Democratic line, guaranteeing
that this seat will go Republican for the first time in living memory. It is my understanding that this
agreement will end all pending litigation and prevent any future litigation. I urge the Executive
Committee to agree to this proposal so that the lawsuits can end and the campaign can begin.
