Function: Agree and Disagree

Activity 1

Give each student a card with an opinion (Im really into sports and fitness or I
dont like visiting museums).
The students should pretend that this is their opinion. Tell a classmate your opinion
and he/she should react giving his/her opinion and try to keep the conversation
going. They change roles. When they finish, they exchange cards and find a new
classmate. Make sure they use the right expressions during the activity.
Stop the activity. Ask the class the opinions they do/ do not agree with.
Finally, the students can write an opinion on the back of the card and repeat the
activity.

Activity 2

Divide the class into groups (even number of groups).


Provide debatable topics.
Each group chooses a topic (two groups should choose the same topic because they
will discuss that topic).
Tell each group if they are in favour or against and give students time to prepare the
arguments.
Two groups discuss the topic and the rest takes note and determine whether their
classmates are using the right language and expressions or not. Then, they have to
decide which group has won the debate.
