GREENHAND CONFERENCE
Several Mayer High School
students were afforded the
opportunity to attend the FFA
Greenhand Conference located in Flagstaff, Arizona in
September. The conference
educated students on future
agricultural careers and education opportunities across
the state.
During the conference students learned about various
Career Development Events.
There were many CDEs of-

fered that students can participate in. The activities

planned helped students
determine what events they
might be interested in. One of
the CDEs that caught my
attention was Veterinary Science, which taught knowledge and skills in that field of
study. There were over twenty
different great opportunities
to help students gain knowledge and experience.

students had a better understanding of the FFA program

and potential for success for
their FFA career. It also allowed students to meet other
members from different
schools in Arizona.

FFA is an amazing opportunity to
meet new people, learn new things,
and do things youve probably never
thought youd do. My hobbies include
eating chicken nuggets, spending time

American Horror Story. Also, FFA is my
only extra-curricular activity and I
wouldnt want it any other way.

BACK PAGE STORY HEADLINE

Hi and welcome to Mayer
FFA. I am very excited to be
the new agriculture instructor
here at Mayer. When I first
came to visit the school and
the agriculture facilities I was
in awe at all of the land,
space, and potential. I was
happy to hear that students
wanted animals and to rebuild the animal program. As
many may have seen, we are
in the process of rebuilding a
lot of the land lab. The two
main things that I have
stressed time and time again
with my students, is that we
build a sense of community
and that we get the animal
program up and running. In
addition to that we have
been working on creating an
aquaculture center, restructure the greenhouse, clean
and stock the pond, utilize
our shop in more ways, and

long experiences. I hope that

you can find a way to be a
part of the program whether
as a student, parent, or volunteer. God bless.

The students have worked
very hard and I am very
happy to see how the rest of
the semester goes. My wife
and two beautiful children
have been very supportive of
this new position and have
enjoyed in helping me with
my vision for the program. I
hope that we can come back
from competitions with wins,
a sense of learning, and life-

time this has been the best
freshman class and hardest
working students weve had. I
am looking forward to getting
more students certified in
welding as we currently have
47 total certs. My goal is to
hit 100 certifications before I
retire. I also hope that you
enjoyed our BBQ this year; we
