Activities (specify)

5-10 mins
Warm up I go up the neck chromatically 2 tones using all 4 of my
fingers and then go up and down the strings, I then do this I
different places on the neck with different patterns. After, I play
major scales, harmonic minor scales and pentatonic scales. I also
sing through major scales as that links in with the theory unit of the
course.

Next I start to go over old and simple pieces I know. Examples of

these are Red Hot Chilli Peppers Under the Bridge, Green Day
Boulevard of Broken Dreams ect. I play this using a fingerstyle
technique rather than with a pick to warm up my right hand and I
sing the pieces so that I remember them if I never need to do a solo
performance, and its very easy for me to sing so is a nice warm up
for my voice.

After I start to go over one piece specifically, it can be a classical

piece, a piece that involves singing and guitar, a lead guitar piece, it
can be just about anything to do with my instrument. At this point in
time Im going over Ed Sheerans A Team. I do this to expand the
amount of repertoire pieces I have and to make sure that I have a
variety of repertoire pieces. This includes a variation in genre and
role (Lead, Rhythm, Rhythm and vocals ect.)

Usually I go one of two ways, if I feel that the piece Im working on
needs more work, then I use this time to do so. On the other hand, if
I feel I have made enough progress, I will move onto working on a
composition of some sort. This usually is just chords, vocals, a
melody and a bassline. I do this because it adds even more
repertoire pieces to my list and helps me to stand out as a musician.
