Minutes of the meeting of Pont Valley Network held on 20th April'15

Apologies were received from: C.Rocke, Stephen Bell & Marji Briggs
1. David Marrs (Chair ) signed a copy of the minutes of last meeting (23rd
March)with no amendments.
2. Website :After update of actions and discussion of topic,it was resolved
that DM as chair would contact MK and working with CR would seek to
resolve the access and update of information to web-site and FB page.
3. Walk 1pm on 26th April : SC has worked out the walk as reverse of
Boundary Stones leaflet and has risk assessment and H&S sheet from
DM. DM to copy out posters and DawnM to ask MH to post throughout
Village. BB to send poster to AAP & to Leisureworks, etc for more
publicity. Cake and soup, etc in hand.
4. Quiz night-9th May ; Posters and tickets available with some tickets to
leave at Club along with poster. Quiz questions from CR. Raffle prizes and
quiz prizes for next meeting. Ladies will check out plates, napkins, etc. in
storage and replenish as necessary. Further details to be discussed at the
next meeting.
5. Fun-day and Trail runners. After lengthy discussion it was resolved to
separate Fun-day from Trail Run. Fun-day on Saturday 4th July from 10
until 4pm, with Trail run on Sunday at 10am before Groundwork's
celebration on the afternoon of Sunday 5th. Dawn M has contacted UK
Athletics for registration with a change of name to Derwent Valley
Trailrunners (DVT) as Red Kite was already registered locally. There will be
a fee for the Run on 5th July. The amount to be confirmed at next meeting.
A grant has been submitted for some costs and referees are needed. DM
suggested contacting Head teachers of the local schools. No further
information was available to date regarding the School art competition.
6. Treasurers' report: There is 803.40 from Natural England in the account
to be paid out for completed work. MJ & JS to speak to Groundwork as
their invoice delivered to PVN is for total project.
7. Ponds & Heath works. Gravel is lying at the pond and needs spreading
before it is lost. Laura Tedstone also has plug plants to be used in area
around the ponds. DM & MJ to follow up both items with local helpers and
with schools to complete this part of the project. DM is a registered
Groundwork volunteer and can be on hand if necessary if worker is
unavailable. The fencing will be completes by mid-May
8. Business Links: MJ is to meet with Andrea McQuigan on Tuesday to
explain PVN link to Business partners and green credentials. There is also
a new Business link up for Consett area of which neither Derwent Valley
AAP nor PVN were aware of until press reports in Northern Echo and S & C
advertiser gave reports of the first meeting.
9. Opencast Appeal Result : There will be a celebration for all interested and
involved parties after the result
