Religion: We are reading scripture stories that

praise God and all the things that he has created.
We have started working with the 2nd Step
Program. This program focuses on getting along
with others and how to handle different situations.

Reading: This week we are working with the

sounds th and wh. We read a great story in our
reader. We practiced reading and writing questions
using the question words that begin with wh.
Math: We are writing and reading addition and
subtraction sentences. We practiced solving word
problems using pictures, connecting cubes, two
sided counters and bar models. We looked for
clues in the question to decide when to add or
subtract.

Science: We are learning more about plants. On

Monday, we set up an activity using lima beans.
We are checking our seeds and writing about what
happens in a seed journal. Next week, we will look
closely at seeds.
Language Arts: We practice writing sentences
daily. We are learning to begin each sentence with
a capital letter and use punctuation at the end of
the sentence.

Spanish News: We have been learning many

new words and phrases this month. We are
working with color words, numbers and vowels.
We are learning basic questions and answers
such as what is your name, what is the
date, what is the weather and how do you
feel. We are praying in Spanish too!

Star Students
Evan is one of our stars this
week. He shared some of his
favorite things with the class on
Monday. His mom was our guest
reader.
Saoirse is our star, too. She
brought a few of her special
things to show us. Her mom
and her sister, Gia, were
our guest readers
on Friday.
Their posters are on
display in our room.
