BEARING ISOLATORS

What is a bearing isolator?

A bearing isolator is a two-part dynamic seal consisting of a

stator press-fitted into the bearing housing and a rotor
driven by the shaft. The rotor and stator form a non-contact,
compound labyrinth, so there is nothing to wear out.

nnovation: In 1975,
David Orlowski, founder of
INPRO/SEAL, invented,
patented and started
manufacturing the ultimate
solution for rotating
equipment failure- the
INPRO/SEAL bearing isolator.
A bearing isolator has no
contacting components to
wear out, unlike rubber lip
or other bearing seals. A
bearing isolator will last the
life of your equipment- or
longer. Today, INPRO/SEAL
has over forty patents and
over 45,000 different
designs to prevent bearing
failure and its
consequences.

nstallation: Every

INPRO/SEAL bearing isolator

is individually engineered
and manufactured to your
exact equipment
specifications. On-site
modifications are rarely
needed. Ranging in size
from 5/8ths to 58 inches,
our bearing isolators install
on virtually any shaft.
There's even a split seal to
simplify installation. A
bearing isolator is a twopart dynamic seal
consisting of a stator pressfitted into the bearing
housing and a rotor driven
by the shaft.

Bearings in a contaminated environment can fail

several times a year, and each incidence can add
up to thousands in repair and replacement costs.
The costs vary, but INPRO/SEALS pay for themselves
in a matter of weeks.

solation: bearing
isolators use a torturous
path labyrinth, centrifugal
force and gravity to
successfully keep
lubricants in, contaminates
out and prevent wear to
the shaft and seal. The end
result is significantly
extended bearing life and
more up-time for your
rotating equipment. Also,
bearing isolators don't
require lubrication or
generate heat.

Bearings often work in

harsh environments, like
this one in a pulp mill.
INPRO/SEALS keep the
contaminants out and the
lubricants in.

Since 1976, the

INPRO/SEALS bearing
isolator has been proven to
be the best by test by
companies worldwide- with
over 1 million installed in all
types of rotary equipment.
As the original patent
holder of the first bearing
isolator, INPRO/SEAL is
recognized as the leader in
the bearing protection
industry.

It is a compound labyrinth
seal that completely
isolates a bearing from its
environment, keeping it
properly lubricated and
contaminate-free. Overall,
bearing isolators are the
most efficient and costeffective way to prevent
premature bearing failure
and resulting downtime,
much more than lip seals
or labyrinth seals. With
properly protected
bearings, your rotating
equipment can last up to
10 times longer while
maintenance costs go
down and equipment
productivity goes up.

DESIGN AND
ENGINEERING
INPRO/SEAL uses the latest

engineering and design

software to create bearing
isolators specific to your
needs. Our unique ability to
adapt to virtually any
dimensional constraints
and conditions of service is
how we provide the
biggest value to you.
State-of-the-art design
and manufacturing
(CAD-CAM integration)
make it possible to
customize our
products to your
equipment, at no
extra cost, without
compromise or delay.
The unique integration
of engineering and
manufacturing at
INPRO/SEAL delivers the
most advanced and
effective bearing isolators
available.
MANUFACTURING

Manufacturing is
performed by 17 CNCs and
9 manual lathes. Though
the majority of our bearing
isolators are made from
bronze, we use many other
materials including
stainless steel, aluminum,
titanium or PTFE. Whether
our product is a "standard"
or a "one-of-a-kind", we are
prepared to design, build
and ship it within 24 hours.

Our in-house testing facility uses high-velocity liquid spray

to measure actual performance, versus simple pass/fail
trials. These highly reliable and repeatable performance
evaluations provide us with the critical data needed to build
the best bearing isolators available.
RESEARCH AND
EXPERIMENTATION LAB

Dedicated to continuous
improvement, our in-house
facility designs, tests and
re-tests each and every
INPRO/SEAL bearing isolator
design. Our testing stations
provide actual numerical
evaluations as opposed to
simple pass/ fail tests.
Working to create better
and more cost-effective

sealing solutions, our

engineers evaluate all
types of potential bearing
isolator designs for general
or specific problems.
INPRO/SEAL remains the
industry leader in bearing
protection through constant
research, testing and
design.
